Melb Uni Student

Hi Forum,

I'm doing a Bachelor of Science in Melbourne Uni, with a Mechanical Systems Major. I'm obsessed with computational fluid dynamics (FEA, PDEs, boundary conditions etc), and was looking to do a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and then look to enter the Quant career path. Is this advisable? or should I aim for a MFE instead. Because from what I understand, I would not have an opportunity to do stochastic calculus or econometrics.

Thanks!

at some point, you need something to make your application strong. The standard routes are to get a PhD in a hard field or to do an MFE. It's not clear a masters in a non-financial field will get you in.

Ah, so a PhD in Mechanical Engineering specialising in Computational Fluid Dynamics would cut it i assume. Yes, thats what I thought as well. That would mean I would have to apply for the Masters in Applied Econometrics in UniMel?
