MFE vs PhD in Financial Mathematics vs PhD in Applied Math

Hi
Many job advertisements I come across write PhD in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science and also with or without some experiences.Hardly or almost never have I seen any advertisemnt where explicitly it is written phD in Financial Mathematics , Financial Eng or Computational finance etc etc..Why so..???

There are some good universities which offer PhD in Financial mathematics like Florida State , CMU , ETH Zurich etc etc...So basically after PhD in Financial mathematics what's the next job prospect ..The front office quant role is not suitable and they are only confined to academia or something else...??What 's the basic difference between MFE and PhD in Quant fin in terms of job prospect ?

So if a future Quant role is aspired then in the conflict among MFE without prior PhD vs MFE with prior PhD vs PhD in Financial Mathematics or relevant field vs PhD in Applied Mathematics which one is most preferable and U'll recommend too...!!

Thanks

I think most people with PhDs in financial maths are aiming for quant jobs. My students certainly don't have trouble getting jobs. The main danger is that you may do something not theoretical enough to be rigorous but not practical enough to be interesting.

MFEs tend to get jobs using models rather than jobs doing modelling.
