Age Limit for First Quant Job

Postby EE2Q » Tue May 01, 2012 9:23 pm

Dear Mark,

Assuming that I have a PhD in electrical engineering and some years of work experience in industrial research, is there anything like an "unofficial" age limit, beyond that getting interviews / entry level quant jobs becomes harder and harder? This question is mostly directed to the market situation in New York.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards!

Hi Mark & EE2Q,

I am currently 35. did my Math PhD in London, and then a postdoc at Caltech.
I came to Singapore 4 years ago due to family reasons and could not find any decent academic job since.
For the past two years, I have been teaching myself quantitative finance.
Thanks Mark, I love your books!
I have been applying for quant jobs in Singapore for the past one year. So far, it seems that no one is interested in hiring me :(
I guess I just need to be positive and keep trying....
